Who Are We?

ImTech is a California-based nonprofit committed to supporting the development and adoption of immersive technology. Through our annual summit, we showcase and champion immersive technology that promises to improve the human experience. We facilitate the exchange of knowledge within our community and educate our community on the latest applications of immersive technology.

What is Immersive Technology?

“Immersive Tech” refers to software and devices that blur the barrier between the physical and digital world, thereby creating an “Immersive” experience into technology.  Over the past several decades, technology has been a tool to rapidly advance humankind.  The internet especially, holds an almost unlimited source of information.  However, our experience with technology is currently limited to a “two-dimensional” screen and button (keyboard/mouse) interface.

In the coming decades, we forsee an “immersion” into technology, whereby the barrier between real world and virtual/digital world is blurred.  As the barrier becomes more fluid, new applications will rise that allow humans to have greater productivity, creativity, and opportunity than ever before.

This is the world of Immersive Technology.

Mission Statement:

Immersive Tech (ImTech) is a non-profit organization that aims to promote the development and adoption of immersive technology. The term “Immersive Technology” refers to simulated realities, interactive devices, and applications that are combined to create an “immersive” experience into technology. It includes, but is not limited to, technology that blurs, if not erases, the line of distinction between the confined physical world and the boundless digital world. ImTech seeks to benefit humanity by advancing fields of industry, such as health, education, entertainment and the arts, through the use of immersive technology.

Immersive Tech aligns the work of researchers, businesses, and manufacturers with other creative communities, professional organizations, and the general public. The organization serves as an indispensible resource and authority to the field by establishing and disseminating industry guidelines and standards. ImTech is the central hub for collaboration, education, and promotion of immersive technology. With the help of partners, grantors, and members, Immersive Tech will create lasting change to the way people perceive reality.
