We recently stumbled up
on the front page of the Science & Entertainment Exchange’s website with a fantastic feature on Jeff Silver, the producer behind mega Hollywood blockbusters 300, Terminator: Salvation, and TRON: Legacy. In the article, Silver gives some information on his own story, his inspirations, the moment of his ‘big break’, and discusses why the TRON: Legacy production team sought the guidance and advice of a team of scientists and physicists. Silicon Valley was abuzz this week (though isn’t it always?). More specifically, with a current ‘buzz’ industry: Augmented Reality. For those unfamiliar, augmented reality (AR) refers to the use of graphical or informational overlays onto the real world to provide a mixed reality experience. Science fiction stuff right? And… well, I guess that’s about it. Today’s stumble re-introduced them to me. The playful half-sing along vocals, wailing synths, and guitar riffs brought me back a couple of decades, however… the video. The video gives a pretty big glimpse of the future of interactive media; immediately bringing me to the present and looking to the future[...]

We recently stumbled across a student article from the University of Central Florida about virtual reality being used to treat post traumatic stress disorder victims. Nothing that we haven’t seen before, but this time, with an added dimension. Smell. [...]
