Hitachi has developed a display plaform that has "Minority Report" like interface without the use of a gesture glove. Gesture control is the future, as a video has surfaced showing a Hitachi system that lets you interact with it. It's currently still a working prototype, but this technology could make it to digital signages, or even in the medical field, both of which would be useful applications. According to an engineer, if Hitachi decided to include such technology into a consumer TV, it'll have to be in the middle of 2011 at earliest.
Finally we're starting to see ways of interaction with public consoles and displays systems in the public without the worry of getting our hands dirty or vice versa in the process!
The world's first ever Immersive Technology Summit will be held at the Los Angeles Center Studios (LACS) on October 21st, 2010.
