Novint Falcon Haptics Controller Could Be Wii 2.0

Videogames and force feedback have been fair-weather friends for years, from motorized steering wheels that go spastic when you slam into a wall, to entire seats that tilt and lurch as your F-16 banks out of harm's way. But playing with the Novint Falcon feels like nothing you've tried before. doesn’t need to be that big. it could be the size of a wii, except that there are three motors, one for each axis in space to simulate the movements, maybe two other ones to simulate rotations

My mentor is using this controller for robotic control. The first one he received broke after a week or so and they had to return it, but they have had no problems with it since. To me – it seemed like it was kinda of flimsy. It also seems to be kinda of expensive – just an IR sensor and some feedback motors.
However; it is definitely a great innovation. I will wait until next generation – but this may be the Apple 2E of intuitive mouse control.

The feedback is totally adjustable. When you compete you can turn kickback off completely, but still feel where you are being shot from (unless you also turn it off).
The Falcon it is a true paradigm shift for any game. The feedback is so real, it´s absolutely mind-blowing.
You have to try it to believe it. Once you played with it, you will never go back.
It is an absolute MUST HAVE for any gamer.

Seems to me for FPS games the kickback with this would create a disadvantage when compared to a mouse and keyboard. While the user of this is fighting with kickback, the mouse user has no such disadvantage.

get the pistol grip addition, much more comfortable, even with non FPS games.

I think its the future of gaming.

The price has come down. If you shop smart you can pick it up for $135. I’m surprised that many gamers don’t consider this worth it, but I guess they don’t realize that this kind of technology ordinarily costs tens of thousands of dollars.
Yeah, it looks a little awkward, but you should have a place to rest your elbow, and you can do 4 hour gaming sessions no problem. The pistol grip is better, and I’m hoping to see more ergonomic grips for other applications in the near future.

that doesn’t look comfortable to play with for a long time… it looks incrediably annoying to play with actually.

Or if you really like the game you’ll build up muscles, which will be good for you, and fatigue won’t be a problem anymore. Plus, without that, it’d limit how many hours people spend playing video games, which would probably be good for them even if they didn’t agree. ^_^

Yeah, I’m not that impressed either, though this one was better than the last thing I just watched about it – it made me slightly more interested in it. The stuff about the games though, that was kind of lame. I’d like real stuff to play.

I was expecting more, not impressed.

I was just put in charge of making this work with several games a company I work for have made.

This is a very fun little toy but as past viewers have commented on, fatigue is a factor to take in to consideration.

This is in its early stages of development though so I’m sure the fatigue issue will be resolved in their later releases of this product.
