As you can see, even when the camera goes out of the marker view, the 3d character still appears. In augmented reality it would disapear because the application can't figure out any reference point. The characters do disappear when you clip a marker (watch carefully). Note that it's building up the relational positions of the markers dynamically, which is why you can extend off the first marker.
