i call vaporware.
“buy your viagra here”, “this intersection brought to you by the coca-cola company”
and yes, crazySbg is right — that’s why there is a horizon grid on the screen — you’re supposed to line it up with the actual horizon to calibrate it. it’s just another twist on gps, not nearly as “OMGz FUTURE 1S NAO” as it looks.

afaik layer uses compass and gps data only, screen is therefore same no matter if I’m looking at the horizont or pointing to the ground. is this true? anybody ever tried this app? i only see videos.

Good News people, this tech is soon to come to the new iPhone 3G S. The technology revolves around having both a compass and a GPS locator device. This is why the new iPhone needed a compass so badly. Just hold on a couple more months, and you iPhone users will have augmented tech on your phone.

Some constructive criticism:
It’s too slow (come on big companies, cant you spend a few more dollars on a super fast phone processor so you can perfectly convey your idea?)
it should be SMOOTH, instant and real time (which is not asking for much). How will it get its information?
Secondly those “dots” need to go.they should appear as smaller dots so they wont take up the whole screen. No one wants to see the distance..if they can see it, odds are they can walk to it or take a quick taxi ride
