If there was ever any doubt whether manipulating our visual senses would be enough to trick our bodies into responding then this video is a must see, not to mention it is quite funny seeing a full grown man flailing his arms around to keep his balance even though he is physically standing on solid ground and isn’t even moving! Imagine adding in sound, tactile feedback, etc…
IDEO labs has created a simple, featherweight headset, a 10′ x 10′ x 10′ white room, and $600,000 worth of projector and computer equipment, combined with the smarts of the folks at Eon Reality, results in one insanely real experience for this user. Can you imagine playing a game of Quake or Call of Duty with this setup? I think we can all agree that the future is going to be awesome! So the question now is… when can I get one?
