The folks at 3D Condo Explorer Inc. have come out with a new product that allows potential buyers to view a 3D representation of an apartment, home, or condo before it has even been built. The software is not just a visualization tool but also can be used to customize the apartment prior to sale. The interface is a touch-screen monitor that allows the user to quickly cycle through possible options for furniture, building materials, and colors. One can change out the hardwood floors for carpet or switch between wall colors while getting real-time feedback on how it will affect the price. As the administrator or contractor, you may change which options are available and set-up the respective prices for installation. Built using the Google Earth API, the software even allows the user to see what views from each window will look like!

The software sounds revolutionary and I believe there is still even more room to improve. Using the models and features that they have currently, wouldn’t it be cool if you switched out the touch-screen monitor for a head-mounted display. This would allow the salesmen to show their leads what it would be like to actually stand and walk around in the space. Regardless, I think they have a great product and have found a market that was in need of innovation.
